The Graz Children's Museum FRida & freD

At the Graz Children’s Museum FRida & freD, children take center stage — not the exhibits. This means that topics, content, exhibits, design, and accompanying programs are all developed specifically for children (people aged 0 to 14) and their interests and needs. Here, children are encouraged to research, experiment, ask questions, and grasp things — quite literally. There’s no pressure to perform, only plenty of curiosity, joy, and imagination.

FRida & freD is a place full of adventures and “aha” moments. Over the past 22 years, around 30 different exhibitions have been presented. Children can immerse themselves in fascinating thematic worlds — from architecture and time to inventions and media literacy. Each exhibition runs for a full year and inspires discovery, creativity, and understanding through all the senses.

In addition to the interactive exhibitions, families can enjoy creative workshops, exciting holiday programs, a research lab, and the charming KNOPFtheater, where child-friendly performances are shown from Thursday to Sunday.

Through our exhibitions and programs, we teach children and families the importance of ecological awareness, resource conservation, and sustainability. Children should learn that their actions matter and that they can make a difference in everyday life. The future of our world is in all our hands — and it concerns us all.

With around 90,000 visitors each year, FRida & freD is the most visited museum in Styria’s capital city — and one of the most inspiring places for families in Austria.
